I must say I have been swanning about town enjoying all things psychic of late. I spent two days at the Mind Body Spirit Festival in Sydney, speaking on Soul Food (practices that feed your soul) and on how to attract Profound Intimacy into your life. I also had the pleasure of interviewing my dear friend, the brilliant and super gifted celebrity psychic and medium, Harry T, on my radio show. Harry read for my listeners and also shared with us lots of insights into the psychic realm and the world of mediumship. For now, I would like this blog to give you insight into some of the many forms of psychic abilities, in an effort to demystify the mystical and help you tap into any latent powers you might have; or even, just to understand a little about this metaphysical world.

In my last blog, I explored the HUMAN PSYCHE: How Mind and Soul rule your life. I believe that understanding the psyche is key to attaining the awareness and knowledge necessary for transformation and unless you’re already enlightened, then transformation is an integral part of creating a deeply fulfilling life.

I spoke of the psyche as being the non-material or invisible aspect of your existence. It’s not something you can see, touch, hear, smell or taste but it is something that you can know, sense or perceive by your invisible senses. Your sixth sense is not visible, but it is real. It is the door way to the realm of psychic abilities. For some of us, these are highly developed, for others these are latent. Nonetheless, they exist in some degree or form in all of us, and are available for us to access as a source of power and wisdom in our lives. One day, when we move more decidedly out of our limited mind set and beyond our 5 senses; when we take heart in honing our sixth sense, our extra sensory perception, we’ll be able to harness these metaphysical powers and have this be the platform for a momentous advance in the evolution of human consciousness.

So what exactly am I talking about when I refer to “psychic abilities”?

Psychic power is the sensitivity to nonphysical or supernatural forces that are believed to come from beyond the natural world. It is a perception of thoughts, feelings, experiences, phenomena through using , what is known as your ‘third eye’, or aspects of your mind, not consciously used. Some people think of having psychic powers or psychic abilities as having a sixth sense. A sixth sense or psychic ability is – a metaphysical ability.

Amongst many other skills, psychics are aware of information about you: past, present, future, that they PERCEIVE , through these gifts they have. As I mentioned, there are many different psychic abilities, I’m going to discuss a few of my favourites today to wake you up to what the human psyche is capable of.

Let’s start with Mediumship.

What is Psychic Mediumship?

A medium uses his or her psychic or intuitive abilities to see the past, present and future events of a person by tuning into the spirit energies. This means mediums rely on the presence of non-physical energy outside of themselves for the information relevant to the person being read. A medium has the ability to communicate with a disembodied spirit, whether that be a deceased loved one, or a spirit guide (yours or theirs) or some other spirit source that a medium can channel or communicate with. So they mainly serve as a vessel for people who have passed and other spirits to communicate with those living, through channelled messages. All mediums are psychic but not all psychics are mediums.

Got it? Let’s take a look at the Clairs now. I believe theses senses I’m about to discuss allow the psychic to access information outside of the construct of time, (past, present, future potential are all accessible), sometimes accurately, sometimes not so accurately. Interpretation requires great skill and clean energy in the psychic and then there’s always the question of how much does free will affect outcomes. The debate between free will and destiny.

Clairaudience

This is the ability to hear messages beyond the normal hearing perception. Sometimes these are the voices of spirits and even sounds of inanimate objects. Clauradient psychics get messages from energy sources and the spiritual realm by hearing them. They can hear you saying something or someone else saying something to you from your past, as well as hear messages sent to you from spirit.

Claircognizance

This is also known as clear knowing or clear recognition. Psychics with this ability can know things without having any previous actual knowledge about the topic. This knowledge is inexplicable, just that the psychic knows it to be true. It’s a deep knowing that can come from their higher self or even spirit guides and is simply downloaded into their minds.

Clairvoyance

This ability is about seeing visions of events, people and places beyond physical eyesight. This includes seeing past, present, and future events as well as “non-physical things, such as spirits.” It’s like when someone sees a train crash or the scene of a crime. This ability to visualise an event, person or place is clairvoyance.

Clairsentience

This is the ability to feel or sense something beyond the physical realm. A person with clairsentience is able to sense the presence of a spirit or other energies.Those with this ability are able to feel the present, past or future physical and emotional states of people. The ability works together with psychometry, empathy and aura sensing to allow the psychic to pick up information from people, buildings, geographical locations and objects. Empaths are able to feel another person’s emotions as well as their physical pains.

As well as the Clairs, I’ll just also mention divination and intuition .

Divination

Divination is a practice used to find answers to questions by observation of various natural signs; some are given on by the spirit world. There are many forms of divination a psychic can use, such as dowsing, tarot cards, crystal balls, pendulums, runes, bibliomancy (allowing a book to fall open to reveal the answer given the open page), scrying, and many other tools used around the world.

Intuition

Intuition is also linked to empathy and is an innate “sense” of events, thoughts, activities, or feelings of others that are outside of the normal human ability to perceive them. For example, someone with extraordinary intuition may have a very strong feeling that someone they just met has a drinking problem even though the person shows no outward appearance of being alcoholic. An intuitive person has a borderline psychic perception.

Intuition is part of the sixth sense and involves a knowing or awareness of all kinds of things that aren’t based on observation or logic. As a sixth sense, it’s considered an ability that everyone possesses. Like all things human, some people excel in this ability while others don’t. Just as not everyone is a concert pianist, not everyone has developed their intuitive sense. Intuition often manifests in a gut feeling that serves as an internal guide.

So here are a number of psychic abilities or powers that are within the domain of the human psyche. Obviously, some us have more ability than others and some have a natural gift and others don’t . However, I think all of us can develop an aspect of our sixth sense if we chose to, for example we can develop our intuition and empathy, to more and more heightened levels although we may never develop the ability to communicate with spirit the way a medium can.

To hear the call of your soul and to assist it to mediate with the conscious and unconscious aspects of your mind, as it seeks to guide you in fulfilling your soul purpose, it would benefit you greatly to open up to your sixth sense. Your soul speaks to you in spiritual language that you must study in order to advance your soul growth and thereby the collective soul growth. Spiritual practice, spiritual teachings, communion with the Divine and developing your sixth sense supply the soul with the spiritual resources it requires to guide you in fulfilling your life’s mission. Developing the skill to communicate with the soul through interpreting spiritual symbols, spiritual messages and deep intuition, also puts your capacity to rule your life and find happiness and fulfilment at a whole new level.

The goal of transformation is to do just that- understand the power of your psyche so you can release trauma and engage your creative power and magic.
