Feeling grateful in a field of lavender in the South of France is easy, right?
How does one feel grateful when adversity strikes or when life just doesn’t seem to favour you?
We can all pay lip service to gratitude but do we know how to invoke the power of gratitude to create more abundance in our lives?
Gratitude as a Wellness Strategy is the action of living life with a thankful heart; returning kindness; showing appreciation; acknowledging the good; and noticing the abundance. Thinking, feeling, knowing, verbalising and actioning gratitude as a strategy for living a better life in your spirit and in your daily interactions.
Gratitude is not just a feel good, scientists are now using the power of gratitude journaling in medical research. They’re learning how many of our physical and emotional symptoms can be treated and supported by adding this new habit into our lives.
In my Radio Show on 3 July, 2017, I interviewed Carolyn Flower, best selling author of Gravitate 2 Gratitude. Carolyn shared her wisdom and expertise on this topic with us. A key takeaway from that interview was that feeling grateful isn’t an external force. It begins with us, in us, which means we have the power to choose its very existence. Gratitude comes to us from our internal forces while the external forces present us with an ever-evolving lifeline to learn from. When our attitude to life is based on feelings of thankfulness and appreciation, it makes it much easier to respond to perceived setbacks. We expand our awareness to the gifts of life, in whatever form they show up. When our thought environment nurtures us, our outer world responds accordingly; inevitably, the results of each and every situation will shift to support us. Remember – energy flows where attention goes, and whatever you’re devoting your energy and thoughts to, is what will be reflected in your feelings and experiences.
So, let me ask – if you were convinced that there was a pay off for adopting a Gratitude Wellness Strategy that outweighed the comfort you get from worrying, stressing and complaining – would you be willing to put your energy into that, instead?
Imagine, if the actual way to solve your problems and deal with difficult, miserable circumstances is to focus not on them, but on cultivating an attitude of gratitude. What if that could actually produce tangible results?
